Hmm... I haven't absorbed his previous pop-standards album yet.

I've listened to it ("Shadows in the Night")a couple times on my music subscription service, and decided I did not need to pick up the cd. I think the idea of Dylan doing a cover album of old pop standards could be very good, but the song selection and arrangements on "Shadows in the Night" were not strong enough to hold up. Hopefully the songs and arrangements on the new album will give his crack band a chance to show off some of their chops. The performance on the song "Melancholy Mood" gives me hope that the new album will be better.

I've always defended (and enjoyed) Bob's various voices but I think the time has finally come for him to have an operation to remove the nodes from his larynx.

I'm no expert on the selection criteria for the literature prize, but I'm happy about this. Some may consider Bob a controversial choice, but I think he deserves it based on his 1960's output alone.
