Okay, so I wanted to bring this out to the community that follows tennis closely.

Sharapova said she failed a drug test, because she didn't check the updated banned drug list. She also claims this has been prescribed to her for 10 years. Some are claiming her brave (for taking control of the HR spin IMO) while others are labeling her cheater.

What are your opinions on the matter?

Her story smells like last week's fish. This is not a medication with the long-term medical uses for which she claims she took it. No reputable doctor would prescribe this for these purposes. The ban has shaken out hordes of athletes who were taking it for quite another reason. She is the most prominent among many.

I think one can argue about PEDs generally or philosophically, but it's pretty clear that her story is incoherent and unbelievable.

I've found that what the manufacturer recommends and what a doctor does isn't always going to jive.

The doctor is free to prescribe as he or she sees fit. But only in a malpractice suit or a case like this one may there be a need to provide a public accounting of those actions. That would be entertaining theater.
