I'm sure this has been requested before, and possibly rejected for some good reason, but the other day I was writing a review of a book and mentioned a previously read book that led me to getting the one under review, and another one that those two had convinced me I ought to read in the future. So I found myself thinking it'd be neat if touchstones worked in reviews.
Obviously, I can put in normal html links to the relevant work pages (which I did), but using the touchstone markup would be easier and would open the door for future features where reviews touchstoning a book could be listed alongside talk posts.
Is there any downsides I'm not seeing? (Apart from the possibility it's simply not worth the developers' time.)

It would be nice but touchstones don't work in reviews because LT makes reviews available to libraries, publishers, booksellers and other sites and the touchstones wouldn't work there. Go to Profile, Account settings, Your book reviews to see how it is set up for you.

I'm aware that reviews are shared with libraries etc, but stripping out touchstones for such purposes should be trivial.

So you're saying stripping touchstones out of 2,451,810 reviews would be a trivial matter?
Really?
Really?

Yeah, that's not the primary problem, although if people used touchstones in ways that made it impossible to "get" a review without them, that could be a problem.
Mostly, however, it's just not implemented.
