I'm on a serious Paul Auster binge - absolutely love both the clarity of his writing and his fabulous imagination - but I'm approaching that scary point where I will have read all of his stuff. What's next?

For the record, I've already tried Don Delillo and decided he's not for me - too fussy with language, the opposite of what I love about Auster. I've also bought one Murakami book on a hunch (I'm also really into David Mitchell), but haven't gotten into it yet ...

Any other obvious choices I'm missing?

I would have said Murakami if you hadn't mentioned him.
I think they have a lot in common plot-wise if not necessarily stylistically. Roughly speaking, both have books with middle-aged first person male narrators who inexplicably don't have to spend most of their time holding down a job and instead romp about quixotically trying to unravel some mystery.

You might like Djinn. I'm on a crusade to get more people to read it.
