BRITAIN AT WAR 1939 to 1945 what was life like during the war? by James Lingard (Authorhouse) has recently been re-launched in view of excellent reviews. I would value the opinions of the reading public as well as established historians. It is offered for review as an eBook, not a physical book.
The book is a short 33,000 word insight into the horrors of the Home Front with an overview of the major campaigns in World War 2, enlivened by personal experiences and quotations from Churchill. It provides a fascinating look at the harsh realities of life in Britain – life full of drama and the danger of impending death. How did a family with a small child caught up in such a war survive?
In a recent 5star review, Bev Walkling writes:
‘I confess that I am fascinated by the Second World War, in part because my father and various uncles served as members of the Canadian forces and their experiences impacted me as I was growing up. As such, this book was of great fascination to me.
This book was a relatively quick read that would be of interest to those who might not have much background in the events of the war or those who know the broad details but want the day to day understanding of how lives were affected by things like bombing raids. James Lingard has meticulously researched and presented the timeline of events for the war, but where this book really shines as far as I am concerned is in the sharing of his own family’s experiences as they were personally impacted. What is needed is the creation of a democratically elected, representative, fully accountable and transparent planetary government which has the lawful ability to address global problems and issues.
This democratic world government should not exist to serve the narrow interests of national governments and multi-national corporations. It should exist and function to serve the best interests of humanity.
The political union of humanity is both possible and desirable. In a divided world we cannot hope to address such problems as climate change, war, poverty or terrorism. Only united can we hope to build a prosperous future for generations to come.
I genuinely would like some feedback in the form of a review or two ladies and gents. Please feel free to let me know what you think.

Following the publication of Alex Haley’s Roots and the TV miniseries that book spawned, sales of Mr. Greenwood’s book soared, assuring its reputation as the best book in American genealogy ever published.
Between 1973 and 2000, two additional editions of The Researcher’s Guide were released, primarily in response to the use of the personal computer for compiling, organizing, and publishing genealogical information. By 2000, the early stages of digitizing genealogy data, mostly on CD-ROM , were also in evidence.

This technology can help fill gaps in the family tree by, among other things, putting one in touch with others possessing a similar genetic make-up.
The 4th Edition of The Researcher’s Guide to American Genealogy both embraces the changes of the last seventeen years and yet transcends them. Mr. Greenwood has re-written every chapter and added two chapters about technology as it relates to family history research--one dealing with significant concepts and definitions and the other with specific resources and applications, including major family history websites and Internet resources. Thanks to the Internet, with a click of the mouse, genealogists have access to more data they could ever dream of studying; data they would have had to travel far and wide to come by in the past. Much of this information is free, or moderately priced through commercial subion services. To cite one crucial example, the entire U.S. federal census, from 1790 through 1940, is available online and completely indexed, from several providers. DNA has also become an important tool in genealogy in recent years. Whether or not they know where their immigrant ancestors came from, with a mere sputum sample, Americans can discover their ethnic origins in just a matter of weeks. This technology can help fill gaps in the family tree by, among other things, putting one in touch with others possessing a similar genetic make-up.

Hi everyone! My name is Dilip D James and I am the author of the book “The Electromagnetic Universe: A New Physics”. This is the story of how I chose the cover for my book or more accurately of how it chose me. I would like to explain why I had chosen this particular piece of art; ‘Textured wall paper’ by Dmitiri Bayer for the cover of my book. The moment I saw this particular work of art I was very attracted to it, without really knowing why. It was only later that while looking at the cover of my book, I realised that what had attracted me to this work of art was that it reminded me of the saying “Pennies from Heaven” . So to me it symbolises the down to earth God given wisdom that we are all blessed with.
Physics from the beginning of the twentieth Century has used abstruse mathematics dealing with imaginary numbers existing in multiple dimensions that has little or nothing to do with reality to explain phenomena using explanations that were equally arcane and occult as the mathematics that supported them. Take the idea of a particle (a solid having measurable mass and dimensions) being able to exist in two places at once (superposition) or theories that the same particle can undergo disembodiment And be everywhere and nowhere at one and the same time (the wave-function). Take the belief that multiple dimensions can exist, although we in this Universe know of only three ; length, breadth and height. If time is included that makes four dimensions, but no matter how you try it is impossible to think of more dimensions. So the theory of multiple dimensions exists without and explanation or description of what these multiple dimensions might be. Special and General Relativity are even worse. Special relativity claims that distances can contract (length contraction) and that time can grow longer or shorter according to circumstance. What this means is that the time taken for light to travel the one way distance from London to New York is the same as the time taken by light to travel from London to New York and back to London again. (Look up Einstein synchronisation on Wikipedia). Einstein exerted, and still exerts, such a fascination over our minds that in spite of the fact that we know for sure that what he is saying is wrong. For instance, we can theoretically measure the difference between the one way journey that light travels and the two way journey that it travels, we are willing to accept it when Einstein says that our calculations are wrong!
The Electromagnetic Universe: A New Physics’ offers indisputable alternative explanations based on common sense and logic, for all of the phenomena that quantum mechanics and relativity are unable to explain without resorting to occult explanations. Hence the appeal of the art work of the cover for the book, with its connotations of ‘Pennies from Heaven’.
What has this got to do with the common man/woman on the street and how is it important? Think about it, light is possibly the most important aspects of our lives, do we want to be excluded from such an important part of our lives and have the beauty of light in all its glory shrouded and hidden from us by arcane mathematical abstractions that have no connection to reality? The physics community is today more fascist than Hitler’s Germany or Communist Russia. They do not tolerate dissent. Nothing must be spoken that goes against that which already exists. My book reveals, in part, some of this deception and explains light in terms that are easily understandable.

I write popular philosophy. This is just a quick post to let know that my new book - "Descartes's Dog" - is now out as an ebook. It's about the French philosopher René Descartes (him of the "I think therefore I am" fame) and his view of animals. Descartes thought animals were just machines, but that humans possess an immaterial soul. This allowed him to treat animals however he wanted (allegedly). I investigate these allegations, and look at what it means for our concept of ourselves as humans - which turns out to be quite important, because (surprisingly) it is a view that also influences the concept of mind employed in artificial intelligence.

I write popular philosophy. This is just a quick post to let know that my new book - "Descartes's Dog" - is now out as an ebook. It's about the French philosopher René Descartes (him of the "I think therefore I am" fame) and his view of animals. Descartes thought animals were just machines, but that humans possess an immaterial soul. This allowed him to treat animals however he wanted (allegedly). I investigate these allegations, and look at what it means for our concept of ourselves as humans - which turns out to be quite important, because (surprisingly) it is a view that also influences the concept of mind employed in artificial intelligence.

My journey includes a cast of close relations who are managing schizophrenia, OCD, hoarding, and sticking-head-in-sand. I have included an unhealthy dose of detail regarding my struggles with sex and relationships. I also share my struggles to try the make-the-world-a-better-place thing, despite my urge to sprint away from every mildly uncomfortable conversation. I have not struggled to laugh at myself. There may be bits of this story that bum you out. However, I'll only let that go on for a few pages before I say something awkward that you might laugh at. For example, if I tell you someone dies, I'll quickly follow up by telling you about the time a 12ish year old boy hit on me at a grocery store. I am a first-time author of my new book on Amazon "Preventing Her Shutdown" Losing My Wife To Alzheimer's, trying to share different ideas and ways of caregiving "live" to others who find themselves on this difficult journey. This book was quite easy to write because it started out as a daily diary of events, situations, emotions and responses recorded as they happened to us. I am still keeping up my diary daily as her situation is ongoing, hoping I will never get to the end of it.
