I've got The Speed of Dark by Elizabeth Moon ordered from the library. It won the Nebula in 2003.

This will be the first book I've read by Elizabeth Moon.

I picked up a second-hand copy of The Speed of Dark and am hoping to start reading it this evening. I read some of Elizabeth Moon's work a long time ago, but it has been a LONG time. I seem to remember liking them though, so I have high hopes of this one.

I bought an ebook this weekend. At the moment it's not calling to me very loudly, but I'm sure that'll change if read some enthusiastic stories here...

It's an interesting read, but I would not consider it a typical Elizabeth Moon work.

It's a long time since I've read any Elizabeth Moon and so I can't really remember her other works that I read, but I'm finding this interesting so far (I'm only three chapters in) and wishing I had more time right now to spend on it. I'm also finding that I want to know more about Lou, he's definitely caught my attention so far and I'm annoyed by certain of the people he's been coming into contact with to this point in the story.

I've just finished and haven't fully got my thoughts in order, but one slight disappointment was that I felt the end of the book was rushed. We moved along at a steady but fairly sedate pace getting into Lou's mind set and growing to see the world through his eyes but that the point to which we'd been heading was done in a single chapter and barely two page epilogue.

I've read about a quarter now. I really like the tone of the book so far. At some point I found myself thinking of Lou's ability to see patterns as a kind of superpower... I love that he can use it in fencing, and I like that he has a group of people around him who accept him for who he is. I'm a little scared of his boss and how he may ruin everything...
