I started a series page for each of these small series...but would like suggestions on how to combine them, since there are only 16 books total, and the main reason I am going to the trouble is to highlight the illustrator, Kurt Wiese.

Currently they're on 2 different pages

Try just listing the Series as "Pictured Geographies" and use the format (y|x) where x is the series no. as in 1st series, 2nd etc... and y is the place in the series 1,2,3..... So Brazil in Story and Picture would have the series CK Pictured Geographies (3|1). I think that might work.

Here's the new series page http://www.librarything.com/series/Pictured+Geographies

Now...how to delete the two earlier creations, as they are empty of books.

They're not really there if they're not linked anywhere anymore.

same as http://www.librarything.com/series/Pictured+Geographies+ghj isn't really there, it's just an automatic creation by url.

>4 SaintSunniva: I made a bit of a start on it last night just to test my theory, I hope you don't mind. I can see that you've finished off.

Since I started the series page for Pictured Geographies, I have discovered there are four series, of 8 each...http://www.librarything.com/series/Pictured+Geographies, by three authors, but all illustrated by Kurt Wiese. The art is amazing, and in the series description I indicate that the page is only for the books illustrated by him, but now I'm thinking, in order to keep out generic covers of print-on-demand books, I'll have to do something.

But what. The only idea I can think of off hand is, an additional series (or change it for each book) which says, Pictured Geographies - Covers and illustrations by Kurt Wiese.

Ideas?

LT Series are series of works, not editions. So if a different edition of one of the Pictured Geographies works is published with a different artist then the cover for that work may eventually show up on the series page. Your only out is that if the artwork is so important to that work that having a different artist makes it a different work then you would be justified in separating out the new editions from the original work. But you would probably spend the rest of your life separating out the inappropriate editions that will inevitably get combined in.

A different cover would not make it a different work.

>9 jjwilson61:, >10 JerryMmm: Yeah, I know, I know...different covers, same work, all that.

If there is a way, then, what I would like is to see the editions, i.e. Pictured Geographies with covers by Kurt Wiese, all in one place. A sort of sub-group within Series...?

While at times I seem to make time for LT ALL the time, that really isn't the case. I am not the kind of person who would spend the rest of my life separating out inappropriate editions.

There is no way currently in LT to have that show up for LT as a whole, other than adding them all to a catalog and making sure they all have the covers you wish to see. Then they will display as you desire, in that catalog.

btw, this is a popular RSI, and hopefully one day with the editions layer ...

>12 JerryMmm: What is this "adding them all to a catalog" that you speak of?

Catalog means your catalog, or sign up as a new user specifically for this purpose.
