I joined Library Thing to set up an author's page. I selected my book: http://www.librarything.com/work/13971326
And then it changed the Author's name from "Iscah" (correct) to "Kay Iscah" (incorrect). The Iscah username was already taken, but I don't understand why the system would change an author name based on my user name. It doesn't make sense, but I have no other explanation.
Also the cover image has a two letter typo. I know how the file got out, but it was fixed very speedily on Kindle, and they were even willing to fix it over on Goodreads. I made a note of it when I signed up for an author page, but no word on how to get the correct cover file up.
And as you can see it's not attached to my author page: http://www.librarything.com/author/iscah as it should be.
Anyone able to fix it or know what I can do?

Gr, sorry...the URL I copied had a correct looking page, but then it brings up the wrong one when I click it. *sigh*

LT works differently than GR in that the data on the work pages come from members' libraries so there is no central location from where wrong information can be fixed. Since that work is only in your library (I'm assuming that you're ElizaJane) then to fix the cover just upload a new cover for that in your ElizaJane account. You may need to hit Recalculate Cover on the work page to force it to update.

As for your the name on the author page, it looks like you should be able to fix that as well by changing the author on the book in the ElizaJane account and hitting Recalculate Title/Author on the work page.

I think the problem is partially conceptual.
On LT, you don't "set up" author pages. It's not your personal page, even though you are the author.
Author pages are generated automatically when users enter a book into their catalogs. The name at the top of the author page is the most used name of the author based on entries of the book. It has nothing at all to do with your personal user name and everything to do with how often the book is cataloged under what author name.
On your book, if you look at the editions on either the work's edition page or on the combine/separate sub-page of the author page, the author has been cataloged once as Kay Iscah (one copy) and once as Iscah (zero copies). The data base favors the one copy over the zero copy, so the page generates the author name as Kay Iscah. As more copies of the book are entered, the most popular author name will "bubble up" to become the name displayed at the top.
As the name Iscah has been combined with Kay Iscah, any searches will direct to the Kay Iscah page. As all instances of Iscah and Kay Iscah refer to the same author, this is correct.
There are ways to override this, but in my experience it's usually best to wait a bit to see if additional copies change the info.

I've changed the work-level author to "Iscah" since that's what it says on the cover, and separated "Iscah" from "Kay Iscah". You can either go just by your surname or have the book associated with "Kay Iscah", but you can't have it both ways; you don't get to claim that "Kay Iscah" is the only author surnamed Iscah that has ever or will ever exist. Since your author badge etc. is on "Iscah" I'm assuming that's where you want the book as well.

On the cover, again, it is not LT providing the cover, not exactly.
The one user who has cataloged your book has uploaded the cover currently being display. One presumes it is a representation of the actual book that the user owns. That is the user's privilege.
If the book had an ISBN, then the system would find that ISBN on Amazon and display the Amazon cover in preference to any user uploads. However, since your book doesn't have an ISBN, the database has no reference point from which to pull a cover from another source, so individual user uploads is the only image source it has.
If other people catalog the book and upload a different cover, the user cover that most people select will become the cover displayed. Unfortunately, most people will check to see if there is already a cover uploaded and select that one before they upload one of their own, so if they don't notice the typos they may select the "bad" cover anyway.
There's really no way to hurry or override the cover process.

9 > The one person who has cataloged the book has been a member since 2007. The user "kayiscah" has not cataloged it.

Thanks, my apologies. I'd seen post 4 and assumed she'd changed her username, mostly because I'd never seen an LT author with one copy of the book where it wasn't theirs.

No, I am not ElizaJane, and I didn't catalogue the book myself (or at I hadn't at the time). I contacted Jeremy, and the name is fixed now. I *think* I figured out how to add the information needed. It was very confusing at first.
"The Girl With No Name" does have an ISBN. Amazon doesn't show it, because they're pushing their ASIN thing. If I did things right, it should show up now.
I do think the system glitched or something, because earlier only one person (not me) had catalogued the book but it showed two copies. But I think it's fixed now.

Do you prefer for your book to be under "Iscah" or "Kay Iscah"? The two names shouldn't be combined, since another author surnamed Iscah may exist - this is less of an issue than it would be if the name was something more common, but it's still not good practice to combine surnames with full names. You have the book in your catalog under Iscah, so I assume that's where you want it?
Edit to add: The author pages are in a really weird state right now. "Iscah" shows a name of Kay Iscah, and is where the book is:
http://www.librarything.com/author/iscah
while "Kay Iscah" shows a name of "Iscah" and no books:
http://www.librarything.com/author/iscahkay
However you want it that's definitely wrong, but I'll avoid poking at it until I know how you want it to shake out.

Incidentally, the ISBN isn't showing up correctly; LT can't handle ISBNs with hyphens, so you'll need to edit them out. (It's currently truncating the ISBN).

I manually added a book about the NY World's Fair, entering the title, author, cover, and publication date. (https://www.librarything.com/work/4477/book/190354774)
LibraryThing has added to the entry info for an entirely different book on nutritional healing. Cover suggestions, tags, reviews, other editions, and on and on. How do I get these two books unlinked?
