Hi folks. Just thought I'd pop in on Father's Day for a father-y type of question. I'm looking for some more board books for my son. His catalog is here.

Specifically, I'm looking for good nap time books. He's a little over 11 months old, though sometimes he passes for a 18 month old. He also seems to enjoy longer board books than many I've run across. One of our favorites is Hop!. The rhyme flows very well and the illustrations are great. And it's not over almost immediately after it's begun. That's important because switching books riles him up a little and I want to soothe him into slumberland. Another one is Goodnight Moon, though honestly it's not one of my favorites ("goodnight air"? "goodnight nobody"? "goodnight bowl of mush that's presumably my breakfast that no one has bothered to clean off my bedroom table the entire day"? "goodnight old lady whispering 'hush' that presumably isn't related to me or I would have called her 'grandmother' or 'auntie' or anything other than 'old lady'"?)

Any other suggestions in this vein, especially ones that don't revolve around rabbits?

I Don't Want to Go to Bed and Wynken, Blynken, and Nod are two of my favorite bed time stories and both come in board book versions.

Some more that might be good after a quick browse through my board book collection (I think most are on the longer side) : I Love You As Much... , Mama Mama/Papa Papa, Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star (the song w/ LOTS of verses), Goodnight Goodnight Sleepyhead, I Love You With All My Heart, The Teddy Bears Picnic (lots of versions of this, but this is the one I have), Kiss Good Night, Daddy Kisses, Papa, Please Get the Moon for Me, I Love You, Good Night, The Runaway Bunny (ok, so it's about a rabbit, but it's a classic), A Child's Good Night Book

Awesome, thanks for a boatload of suggestions so quickly! Having a lot of choices really helps, since I'll try the used book stores first.

The How Do Dinosaurs...? series by Jane Yolen are fun to read and wonderfully illustrated.

I managed to memorize "Wynken, Blynken and Nod" and recite it every night for what was probably a couple of years for my little one. Very soothing and lyrical. Easily personalized. ("baby's trundle bed" became "Mimi's little bed")

"Little Mimi" is now 32, calls herself Mary, and is the mother of my three grandchildren.

Some favorites of both my children around that age:

Jamberry by Bruce Degen
Big Red Barn by Margaret Wise Brown
Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do You See? by Bill Martin, Jr.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb by Al Perkins
Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell
Tumble Bumble by Felicia Bond
Bear Snores On by Karma Wilson
The Going to Bed Book by Sandra Boynton

there is also Good Night, Gorilla by Peggy Rathmann however that is a book without words (or without many words). My kids loved it though.

(eta: we had all of these as board books, although I think most are also available in non-board format)
