We're doing The Girls by Lori Lansens. I absolutely loved it!

We're doing The Highest Tide by Jim Lynch and I won't be starting it until next week.

My club is reading Breakfast of Champions by Kurt Vonnegut. I have only read a couple of books by him, most recently Man Without a Country and am looking forward to reading this one, which has been on my list for a long time. Last month was Lolita, which I found was a completely different book the second time around.

I suggested The Girls to my club but no one had heard of it and they weren't interested. Maybe next year.

Anyway, for June we're reading Eleanor Rigby, by Douglas Coupland. It was both funny and sad.

I just recently read The Girls and really liked it. Where did you find the study guide?

We are doing Blessings by Anna Quindlan and next month it is The Glass Castle.

We're reading King of Lies by John Hart. It is a mystery set in North Carolina where the author grew up. It is his first book, and I highly recommend it.

The Glass Castle was a favorite of my book club, dara. We are reading Cakes and Ale by W. Somerset Maugham for our next meeting. I loved The Painted Veil by the same author when I read it last month and can't wait to read this one.

We just discussed The Glass Castle--a great book for discussion. Next up is Chocolat!

We did Chocolat a year or so ago, but now someone has put forward Blackberry Wine for next month. I've heard that it's awful. Has anyone read it?

#9 - I have, miss_read! I liked it. It's not as good as Chocolat, but it is fun. If you read it it right after Chocolat, it will probably seem even less worthy, however.

My mystery club just discussed The Daughter of Time and now we're reading If Ever I Return, Pretty Peggy-o. I've read some other McCrumbs and enjoyed them quite a bit, so I'm looking forward to this one.

knittingfreak, thanks for the mention of John Hart. We have a couple of slots open and the group likes local authors (we're in Durham), so I'll suggest him.

#11 Hart is going to speak at our annual Friends of the Library luncheon next March, and he didn't charge us a fee. He just wanted to play on the local golf course!

#10 - Thanks, clamairy. I was dreading it, but am not feeling so bad now. :)
