What do you think you will be reading for this weeklong ReadaThing?
Will you be reading Charles Dickens in honor of his 200th Birthday?
(there's lots of good stuff, long & short!)

Let us know what you plan on reading!!
(there will be a LOG BOOK thread for posting during the read!)

Some questions:
Why will you be reading that book instead of another book?
Will you be reading a book you've been putting off?
Will you be reading an old favorite book?
How did you find out about your book or what made you choose to read it?

Do you know where you will be reading?
Will you be reading by yourself or will there be others around?
What are your plans for the ReadaThing Week??
Will you be hibernating or enjoying the warm sun??

So many choices! I am wavering between re-reading an old favorite, or perhaps reading an annotated version (I have the Annotated Christmas Carol), and reading something I have never read before. I have Our Mutual Friend on the shelf unread, so that's a candidate.

I will probably be either sitting in my comfy chair with a nice cuppa or lounging in bed for reading, with intermittent slices of reading at lunch at work.

I'll be reading Great Expectations (a group read in the 12 in 12 Challenge group).

#2: I'm envious of your Annotated Christmas Carol!

I'm probably going to start A Tale of Two Cities, but I'll also be reading more Windows 7 books.

Hey, Non-fiction counts!!! I really have to read them!! and take notes, but this stuff is fun!!

I will undoubtedly have a few early reviewers or member giveaway books to read, but A Tale of Two Cities will probably be up on my list too. Hopefully I can read at least /some/ of it between responsibilities. Been meaning to do it and now I have a reason! :)

I will NEED to read that weekend. I'm a poll worker and will have worked my tail off until Tuesday Jan 31 when Florida has its Republican Presidential Primary. I'm tired already and this is just training! Such good timing for me!

But I'll pass on Dickens. I'm sure I'll have some alternative idea for reading though!

Hmm, I have some Dickens on my list anyway, I might use this opportunity to tackle it. All will depend on where I stand with my reading by then.

I'm looking forward to reading during a whole week ;-), but probably I will be lucky if I get one or two hours reading time each day. I won't read Dickens, but I don't know yet which book from my TBR pile I'll be reading then.

I'm already reading Barnaby Rudge because it's my least-favorite Dickens, and I've never reread it. I can promise that I'll still be reading it in February! So far, I haven't changed my mind. The writing just doesn't seem as sharp as in any other novel, but we'll see. (And, Staffordcastle, do please read Our Mutual Friend! You'll be giving yourself a real treat.)

I plan to read Great Expectations for the Dickension Birthday Bash part of the Read-a-Thing. Also Charles Dickens is the February Challenge for the 12 in 12 Category Challenge.

Other than that I will be reading I will be reading The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas during the rest of the Read-a-Thing. This one is the Winter Quarter read for 'The Highly Rated Book Group'. So this will be a good time for me to concentrate on it as it is a real chunkster.

I think what I will do is take one of my boxes of books and read through as many as I can in the week. No Dickens - well, the boxes I'm working with right now are all SF, so no Dickens. If I get around to sorting out some of the general fiction boxes before the Readathing, I might pick one of those, and it might have some Dickens in it. But it would be so nice to deal with these books - I have to read them in order to decide whether I want to keep them or dump them, and they've been sitting around in boxes waiting for me to get to them for waaaaaay too long.

I'm a bit confused by the FIVE different threads related to this RT (not to mention the thread over at Monthly Author Reads) . . . but I'll be listening to (via LibriVox) and/or reading Sketches by Boz . . . or if I've finished it by then (starting today) I'll move on to Pickwick Papers.

Lucinda, I'm sorry that the threads confuse you...

The "Announcing" & "What Will You Be Reading?" threads are for before (sometimes a little during) the RT event.

The "Log Book" and "Quotes" threads are for during the week of the read.

The "Dickens" thread is for the Dickens readers & whatever they want to talk about....

I tried to keep it simple as possible without dumping everything into one thread.

Feel free to PM me or post questions... if I'm not around, there are bunches of LT'ers who've RT'd before and often know more than I do. I'm just a regular LTer who volunteered to coordinate the ReadaThings for now.

I don't know what I will be reading just yet. Depends on what I have finished or haven't finished. I may be reading my book club book The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown or I will be trying to finish Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling. Then after that who knows what I will chose to read. Maybe Dickens...

I plan to read Bleak House for the Dickens ReadaThon. It's about a probate case and I am an estates and probate attorney. I expect it to be interesting maybe even fun to read.

Bleak House is to date my favorite Dickens book along with A Christmas Carol. I will be reading David Copperfield for the Read-a-Thing.

I'll be reading Bleak House. It's a Dickens book that I have never even picked up before so it should be an interesting challenge.

I'll be reading Bleak House too.

I think I'll be reading A Million Suns by Beth Revis. It's the second book in a YA scifi trilogy that I've enjoyed so far. Also, the teen book group I host at my library is discussing book one (Across the Universe) Friday, so that should put me solidly in the mood for book two!

I think I'll be reading Dürrenmatt oder Die Ahnung vom Ganzen Biographie by Peter Rüedi this biography is written in German. I will also intend to read some English books as Divine Justice by David Baldacci and The Mao Case by Qiu Xiaolong.

I'll be reading on a few different books: Great Expectations, The Corrections, Don Quixote, and The Language Instinct by Steven Pinker.

helmikuu 1, 2012, 6:22am

I'll be starting with a book by a portuguese author, O filho de mil homens by Valter Hugo Mãe. I started it last night, so I'll still be reading it when the ReadaThing starts.
After that, I don't know yet.

Well, I've started another Windows 7 book, so I'll be reading that.

For pleasure reading, I'm also planning on listening to A Tale of Two Cities and I'm re-reading The Face of a Stranger by Anne Perry.

Yes, I frequently have multiple books going..... very frequently.

I began reading Our Mutual Friend before Christmas, and intend to turn my full attention to it this month.

I've taken the plunge and started reading Voices from Dickens' London - so far, it's wonderful, and if it continues thus, I will be recommending it to all my Dickens Fair friends.

I've started my reread of Barnaby Rudge, and so far - about 160 pages in - it's still a trudge. Occasionally, the Dickens wit kicks in, and occasionally a breathtaking Dickens sentence, but I can't feel that his heart was in this one. Mine isn't but I'm trying.

I am reading A Christmas Carol. I have not read any Dickens work, so I think is good starting from the most wellknown of his books.
