Last year I bought twice as many books as I read. And that doesn't even count the ones I already have. Sigh. Most of mine are ebooks, but I do have a few on the shelves. I might denote the dead-tree editions. Oh, yeah, and I have a bunch of audio books I never remember to listen to. Sigh... I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

Jean,
You can do it...we all have the same addiction but we also all have the same love of books or we wouldn't be in this situation. I got more new books last year than old books I read but I'm going to keep trying to read them all! Even if you only read 1 book a month off your shelves, that's 40% of your goal. Don't be discouraged.. just enjoy the books as you read them.

LOL. I'm psyching myself up by telling myself I'm a sapper with the Bridgeburners... "First in, last out!"

What did you think of Oryx and Crake, Majkia?

I found it disturbingly realistic as far as possibilities go. Quite the cautionary tale. And Snowman was an interesting choice for pov as you're never sure what he knows or how he knows it or indeed if he's a trustworthy narrator.
Definitely one of those books that deserve to be read. I'm sure I'll read Year of the Flood at some point soon.
Have you read it?

Yes, I have read it. It, along with the Flood, has wormed its way into my memory and both still give me the chills. As you said, there's just a little too much realism there, and that's disturbing.
Books are expensive here in Australia, so I haven't bought them yet, but I'm looking forward to them moving into cheaper editions so I can put them on my bookcase, along with my other treasured books.
What are you going to read now that you've finished your first bomb?

Ah, I see you enjoyed Stef Penney's The Invisible Ones, too. Have you read her The Tenderness of Wolves? I think I may have enjoyed that even more.

Terri,
No, I have not read The Tenderness of Wolves but certainly plan to after reading Stef Penney. Good to know it is as good if not better. Looking forward to it.
