I know this has been done elsewhere on LT, but I thought this is a good place to do it as well.

I'm reading This Dark Endeavor: The Apprenticeship of Victor Frankenstein and the library in his chateau is 'Biblioteque Obscura' built on a hidden level by his great+ grandfather, William Frankenstein. It contains books and equipment for practicing alchemy. The entrance door has a hole instead of a knob. When you insert your hand, it is gripped and not released until you perform certain movements clued by an inscription.

Recording libraries that occur in fiction.

benj, that's cool! I'm so glad I found this site. I'm pretty sure the titles mentioned in This Dark Endeavor are fictional. Since I'm listening to the book, I can't jot the titles and authors down, but I will make the effort next week and note them here at least.

One of my all-time faves has to be Sepulchrave's magnificent library from the Gormenghast books. As a book lover myself there is a definite lump in my throat when that one goes up in smoke. I was planning to add a quote here from the book describing the library but I find I've lent my copy to one or other of my kids - or maybe I've somehow lost it, which would give me a wonderful excuse to buy a new, gloriously illustrated version :-)

The labyrinth library in "The Name of the Rose" is one of my favorite dreams...I'd LOVE to get lost in that collection...with an adequate supply of food and beverage - and candles, of course!
