Here are a few of my TBR list - please can I have a nudge ;)

1. alias grace by Margaret Attwood
2. atonement by Ian Macewan
3. Jakob the liar by Jureck Becker
4. far from the madding crowd by Thomas Hardy
5. Waterland by Graham Swift
6. Blaming by Elizabeth Taylor
7. Never let me go by Kazuo Ishiguro
8. Jack Maggs by Peter Carey
9. If nobody speaks of remarkable things by Jon McGregor
10. everything is illuminated by jonathan Foer

I am going on my holidays on friday - so nothing too heavy would be good
Thanks all

I have read Alias Grace, Atonement, and Never Let Me Go, and would recommend all of them. Never Let Me Go is definitely my favorite though, so I'd read that one first.

I would also pick Never Let Me Go, but I'm not sure if it fits into the "nothing too heavy" category. I haven't read Atonement all the way through, but the part that I did read was very good.

One more for Ishiguro. And I would nudge towards Hardy but he might be a bit too heavy :)

Happen to be the three I've read as well, although I too have several others on my TBR pile. Alias Grace is excellent historical fiction, Atonement might take just a bit more concentration, and Never Let Me Go is more speculative fiction. What are you in the mood for? Ratings wise, I think they were all 5 star reads for me.

Hi there! I just joined the group and I can't wait to post my TBR list! Anyway, I am currently reading Never Let Me Go and I've already recommended it to a few friends, so... That's my vote!

I liked Far From the Madding Crowd...it could be considered heavy if you haven't been in Victorian literature for a while, but it's also one of the least depressing Thomas Hardy books.

Some great books there but Far From the Madding Crowd has to be the pick of the crop. Yum!

Read Never let me go then picked up far from the Madding Crowd then put it down in exchange for Alias Grace - enjoying that but I will put the Hardy down as next in the line! Thanks everybody
