just found Medievalists.net, and thus far they have been incredibly useful for locating information! Thought I would share this compilation on Medieval Life for anyone interested:

If you've ever wondered what medieval people named their pets here's your answer. I would kind of like to have a cat named Gilbert.

>4 varielle: - Huh. After reading William Manchester I thought they named their pets either something like "Stew" or "Dinner" or "Sexy."
The two Medievalists.net authors (Peter and Sandra - can't wow you all with my knowledge without dropping names can I?) are folks with graduate degrees in medieval history. I've run into them at Kalamazoo a couple of times (and evidently one of them reads my blog, at least occasionally). Good people.
