That is awesome (and I want one - I'm almost more impressed by the use of 3-d space in general than all the shelves!) but he's kind of stuck if he owns any books taller than 36 cm!

I pasted these pictures into my Evernote so that I can give them to a contractor when I finally buy a book shelter.....er, new home.

Good the shelves have "structural integrity against an earthquake". Yes, sigh. Can't see retrofitting my house with windows and doors disrupting the walls.

I wonder if you have to climb up the shelves to change the lightbulbs?
Interesting that the architect seems to have had the forethought to make it easy for even the less agile visitors to dance on the table...

But definitely a thing of beauty.

Amazing! ...but where are the ladders? Do you think you're supposed to climb the shelves to get the books stored in the higher cubes?

The owner collects old Islamic texts. He's probably got a tame Djinn to do the heavy lifting.

#3 Not only empty shelves but shelves with boots on them! I think these guys are the real amateurs. You know you're the real thing when your boot shelves are full of books.

I would love to have that much empty shelf space. empty shelves make me giddy with the though of all the book binges that I can go on.

That home might be good for Yomiko Readman, alias "The Paper", from the Read or Die anime series. In the OVA (Original Video Anime) she lives in a three or four story building near the bookselling district of Japan.

I left these as image links so as not to abuse the bandwidth of the people hosting the images. They are each Tumbler links pointing to the images as you will see.
