As Virago Reading Week comes to a close, verityjdo and I have formally announced our next blogging event devoted to Persephone Books:

http://www.paperback-reader.co.uk/2011/01/31/persephone-reading-weekend/

Instead of a week this time we are shortening it to a long weekend. Please pop over to both of our blogs in a few weeks and participate in reading those grey books we love so much. If any of you would like us to post us a Persephone review or Persephone-related post on your behalf then feel free to email us.

I hope to read some highly-anticipated Persephone books over the weekend and my only issue is choosing between those vying for my attention. At present, those calling the loudest to me are Greenery Street and The Home-Maker

The Home Maker is amazing! Very intense and thought-provoking. One of my favorite Persephones.

I'll second The Home-maker. It's also one of my favourites. :)

Some people don't take to Greenery Street, but it's one of my very favourite Persephones.

I'm going to join in this year - I'm new to blogging so welcome any wise tips on how this kind of thing works.

Read my first Persephone last week (v impressed by Verity having read them all) but have form in reading re-discovered works by women so feel like I've found a new thread of ideas to follow/borrow/buy...

Rose - that's great that you can join in! Do you have a blog? If so, you can put up your review (s) on it, and then you can visit our blogs and leave the link in the comments, or if you don't have a blog, you can put the review up on librarything, and put the link to that in the comments on our blog.

Superb - thanks Verity for the explanation. I'm well up for it. Bring on the weekend!

In time for Persephone Reading Weekend, I'm having a giveaway for one of their newest books on my blog:

Katherine - I put my name in for the book but it does not seem to be coming up in the comments on your blog. If it doesn't show, can you put it in for me?

Many thanks!!!

Barbara
