About My Library
PLEASE BE KIND ENOUGH TO CREDIT 'THE WESTERMAN YARNS' IF YOU USE ANY OF MY IMAGES; I am more than happy to share images, but a short email letting me know where and when it is being used would go a long way towards keeping my blood pressure in the 'normal' range. Buying a new book and seeing my images in it is adding insult to injury - hence the reason why the book I paid good money for is not in my LT collection. Naming and shaming would promote the book. This is the reason that I have taken to watermarking all new dust wrapper entries. You will also see that the images are scanned with a reflective film making them pretty useless for reproducing. A short email to me telling me who you are and why and where you would like to use the image and I will send you by return a high resolution clean scan without the watermark.

I am still in the process of cataloging the Westerman Yarns Collection: a library and archive that contains a complete collection of their books and a large collection of periodicals, photographs, letters and other ephemera related to P. F. Westerman and J. F. C. Westerman. I am happy to share the details of this collection. I plan to include reference books and other books I have collected for no reason I can explain, but it felt right at the time. Initially, I would like to get everything listed then add detail at my leisure, so if you find some of the entries a little scant, please be patient.

I also coordinate and have links with other Westerman related collections belonging to institutions and private collectors. I am planning; with their permission to acknowledge - to include their collections under the collective title 'Percy F. Westerman and Chums'.

With reference to the publish dates for Westerman books. Each entry will only show the date of the the first edition. Publisher, Blackie and Son Limited, responsible for the majority of his books rarely dated any publication. We are currently working on a definitive guide to aid recognition of his first editions.

About Me
I have been researching, collecting and writing about authors of juvenile literature for more than twenty-five years, specialising in the lives and works of Percy F. Westerman and his son John F. C. Westerman and other writers from the golden age of ripping yarns fiction.

In 2009 I founded The Westerman Yarns, an organisation intended to be a collection point to share information about the Westermans and other writers of the 'Ripping Yarns' genre. Through exhibitions, seminars, talks and participating in heritage and literary events we have raised the profile and interest in this important writing era. In May 2013 I launched the Friends of The Westerman Yarns for collectors, academics and anyone with an interest in the lives and works of the Westermans and their contemporaries.
