About My Library
I had an inspiration to write a book on Kindness that was also a play on my favorite bible verse, Matthews 25:31-40 (caring for others and attending to their needs IS the bar upon which people are measured!). To say it was an inspiration is a bit understated, I'd never considered writing to be published but this idea took a hold of me and my only real option was to write it down and submit it, and the rest is history!

You'll notice from my library that I'm into Philosophy and Science Fiction. The first is my mental break from IT stuff, the second though I blame on my older brothers who left all sorts of Sci-Fi like the Foundation series lying around the house. While I read a lot of Jonathan Swift's and Hardy Boys as a kid I could also be found ripping through just about anything that was left around, and usually that was something by Issac Asimov, or Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 *although I suspect books will burn at much lower temperatures given enough flame and oxygen. I really like letting my mind wander over what if's and will analyse movies and books to see if what they are doing is possible, much to my wife's annoyance (ITS JUST A MOVIE!!!)

Funny how that Science Fiction has become our reality in many ways. We all know about the Star Trek stuff, but how about Ray's 1950's book? Here's a quote from Ray on Wikipedia:

"In writing the short novel Fahrenheit 451 I thought I was describing a world that might evolve in four or five decades. But only a few weeks ago, in Beverly Hills one night, a husband and wife passed me, walking their dog. I stood staring after them, absolutely stunned. The woman held in one hand a small cigarette-package-sized radio, its antenna quivering. From this sprang tiny copper wires which ended in a dainty cone plugged into her right ear. There she was, oblivious to man and dog, listening to far winds and whispers and soap-opera cries, sleep-walking, helped up and down curbs by a husband who might just as well not have been there. This was not fiction.[10]" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fahrenheit_451

Ray wrote this observation in 1960, only 9 odd years since Fahrenheit was published. I can only imagine what he thinks of our current iPod obsession :).
