About My Library
An eclectic collection in which personal interests and research for professional reasons have met in strange ways.

Listings of books cannot reflect personal history, but I know there have been more or less defined phases in my reading:, sometimes coinciding with a book I'd been offered to write. For ‘Return of the Tribal’, for example, we’d not only travel to Borneo and much of Southeast Asia – but my bookshelves would fill with books on tribal peoples and the way they often use their body as canvas.

In another period, when my job entailed inviting authors and lecturers (Carol Beckwith, William Burroughs, Angela Fisher, Brian Gyson, Jean Houston, Francis King, John & Toni Lilly, Timothy Leary, Tad Mann, Rupert Sheldrake, Sogyal Rinpoche, Robert Anton Wilson etc.), this usually happened because I had read most of their works before I met them, and personal encounters often led to even more reading.

You’ll also find much erotica (some call it porn) in this collection, as well as much on Indian Tantra – both classical and ‘neo’ – and many books tagged ‘sexuality’ and with terms such as ‘genital worship’ and ‘yoni’ (the vulva). All of this stems from personal interest, yet is also intertwined with several books I’ve written about these topics.

Last not least, my many visits to Nepal, including a study at a Tibetan monastery, have left me with a deep appreciation for the particular form of Buddhism that has emerged in the Himalayas. To find these type of books here, use the tags bon, dzogchen or vajrayana. If these should be unfamiliar terms, the books in question usually deal with deep insights into the human condition and penetrating analysis which – in the West – we often call either philosophy or psychoanalysis.
About Me
What I've done and been in my professional life: book seller, librarian, printer, publisher, photographer, magazine editor, author, book- and cover designer - not to mention reader and collector of many a book. It's that Library Thing.
