About My Library
About 1/3-1/2 of my collection is here; the rest are in California in storage since I had limited room in my car when moving back east. More often than not, reading a book becomes more of a chore than pleasure, so I don't often try to have TOO many on hand, since then I feel like I'm keeping something good from others. I don't like collecting stuff, in general, but think that if anyone is allowed a lot of anything, it should be books, DVD's, and CD's.

"Prestidigitation" sounds cooler than "Fantasy" and, for that matter all of the fantasy I seem to read is by peole who are very skilled at writing it and have a fine mastery over using language that is almost too clever for their own good.

"Short List" is my short list. When people ask me, "What's your favorite book?" they can just check that list. I try to keep it short, and when I get the rest of my books put in (someday), I'm hoping to keep it to under ten. As it is, I keep looking and thinking that two or three items MIGHT not belong there, but whatever. Cross that bridge when my shelves fill up.

"Short" is for volumes comprised of, or containing, short stories.

"Research" covers stuff I've bought for the purpose of needing more information on, mostly for a project I'm working on. "Reference" falls more onto items that I keep around because I keep going back time and again, using them for varous projects.

"Oddity" usually hits me in the soft spot. When walking through a book store, usually somethign catches my eye that makes me think, "Now that is just nutty..." and usually I walk out with that book in the bag. I'm such a sucker for a bizarre topic. Who'd write a book on SALT? Or a book entirely about dead bodies? Or painting cats? And some people just have odd lives. So I figured it earned a category unto itself.

"Film" is directly about film. Since almost EVERYTHING I do related, in one way or another, to film making, this just reserves itself for stuff about the medium. Which is why my Final Cut Pro and After Effects books don't have this tag.

"Motive" is stuff that I look at for inspiration. "Inspiration" sounded too "Chicken Soup for the Homosexual Teenage Vegetarian's Soul" to me, so I had to use a new word.
About Me
I am almost the someone I've always claimed to be.
