Anyone who visits LICHEN may take out books to peruse during their stay.

The intention of LICHEN CENTER is to hold space for the marginalized peoples in the traditional territory of the Penobscot people, currently known as Blue Hill, Maine. LICHEN centers interconnection, queerness, animism, and non-appropriative land based spirituality, with hope that these seeds will be planted within and tended by those who visit. LICHEN CENTER wishes to hold space for the tending and mending of the human nature split; to practice listening and exploring how we may be in relation with this land in a deeply rooted and respectful way. LICHEN is a place to reweave and remember our relations.

With this foundation, the center wishes to create and hold space for experiences and offer teachings toward access, relevance and healing in service of collective liberation to counteract systems of dehumanizing oppression. The intention is to host programs and events that are accessible to a spectrum of marginalized communities; disabled, neurodiverse, BIPOC, Queer, Trans, etc.
