About My Library: I have a lot of books, none very valuable, mainly paperbacks but all that I have enjoyed and feel that I could read again or have read again and again.
About Me: I am 69(2008, photo 2008). I have always loved reading, travel, music and painting. I am married with 7 children and 13 grandchildren. I am a true Brit, my grandparents being English, Welsh, Irish and Scottish and I currently live in the west of England.
My particular literary interests are with History and travel with light relief in the thrillers of John D Macdonald, Robert Crais, Lee Child etc. My interest in Historical fiction was originally stimulated by three books-The Long Ships, Frans Bengtsson-Manila Gallion, F Van Wyck Mason and The Black Rose, Thomas Costain. Now I particularly like the novels of Bernard Cornwell, Conn Iggulden and Valerio Massimo Manfredi. I also have a strong interest in the history, literature and art of Classical Greece. My top three travel books are,- Arabian Sands, Wilfred Thesiger; Travels With Charley, John Steinbeck and Southern Cross to Pole Star, A.F.Schiffley. Other Favourite books are - The Grapes of Wrath,John Steinbec; The Histories, Herodotus; Collected Essays,Letters and Journalism, George Orwell; Robert Graves-The Greek Myths and The Golden Fleece.
