About Me
Frederick R. Lynch , Associate Professor of Government at Claremont McKenna College, whose newest book is One Nation Under AARP: The Fight Over Medicare, Social Security and America’s Future (University of California Press, 2011). His previous books include The Diversity Machine (Free Press, 1997; Transaction Paperbacks, 2001) and Invisible Victims: White Males and the Crisis of Affirmative Action (Greenwood Press, 1989; Praeger Paperbacks, 1991). He is the author of dozens of academic and general reader articles spanning a wide range of topics ranging from “Social Theory and the Progressive Era, Theory and Society (1977) “Deviant Religion or Occult Establishment?” Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion (1979), a signature article, “Surviving Affirmative Action,” Commentary (1985) and more recently a book chapter on “Politics of Aging Boomers” in Robert Hudson’s The New Politics of Old Age Policy (Johns Hopkins, 2010). He has been profiled in Forbes and The Chicago Tribune and interviewed by most major newspapers, television newscasts, National Public Radio, etc. He has been active in several professional associations, and has especially enjoyed being an invited participant at the “policy wonk” Renaissance Weekend gatherings.

Lynch received in B.A. in Sociology at the University of Michigan and his Ph.D. at the University of California, Riverside. His courses often reach enrollment limits on the first day of pre-registration and include: “Inequality, Politics and Public Policy,” (Gov 113), “Organization of Health Care and Public Policy” (Gov 105) and “Juvenile Delinquency and Public Policy” (Gov 109).
