About My Library
It sounds somewhat pretentious to call this ragbag of books a library; it has no discernable strength whatsoever in any particular area of literary or scholastic endeavour. But at least I own them all; there are no wishlists or borrowed books here.

The cataloguing is going slowly because I'm trying to get the best possible data for each entry, editing and amending the often ropey MARC data and uploading a pic of the cover or title page when it is not available online.

I'm making a particular effort to catalogue the small items - cathedral guides, ephemera and so on - since it's easy to forget what one owns of this kind, or where it is. Whereas I'm not likely to forget owning LOTR, although I can't imagine ever wanting to read it again!

On tags: some that do not relate to the book as such I put in the 'comment' field, preceded by '@'. @exlib indicates redundant library stock, legitimately acquired; @ltamend signifies a work or author where there are combining or separating problems that cannot be solved until the LT system is rendered more flexible.

In appropriate cases, I award stars as an answer to the questions: How worthwhile was it reading or consulting this book? Was it time well-spent? Was it enjoyable? I am not a great fan of stars, but this does seem a reasonable use of them: I am not implying any objective, abstract quality of merit. Occasional misjudgments have the comment @unreadable.
About Me
Obviously someone with not enough to do! This site is sooo addictive ...

I took a maths degree and worked as a Chartered Accountant for over 20 years before jacking it in to do a doctorate in the history of science. That little exercise was successfully concluded a couple of years ago, and I still haven't decided what to tackle next.

But while I decide, there are always a few more books to catalogue!

The pic shows a rather damp me after a dip in the hot, malodorous but allegedly highly beneficial spring water at Issyk-Ata Sanitorium, Kyrgyzstan.
