About My Library
The John Trigg Ester Library is a small membership library in Ester, Alaska. We have about 10,000 volumes (we haven't catalogued them all yet). We're raising funds to construct a new building, so we can move the books off our overly-crammed shelves and put them in a nice big spacious library where we can hang out and read 'em all!

We are located in a log cabin on Main Street, Ester, also known as the Ansgar & Ida Clausen Cabin. This log building houses the Ruth Jasper Children's Room, Alaska/Yukon Collection, and our seed library, as well as fiction and nonfiction books. The Clausen Cabin has a couple of storage sheds and a garden associated with it also.

On our property on Village Road we have begun the first stage of our new building, the thermal storage tank that is Phase I of our eventual Passive House structure. Farther down the street, we have a toolshed/composting outhouse and the Ida Lane Clausen Gazebo, an 8-sided structure used for parties, a quiet reading nook, music practice, and as a staging area for Readers on the Run. Surrounding the gazebo and shed are perennial gardens. The motto on the stoop of the gazebo is from Erasmus: "When I have a little money, I buy books, and if there is any left over, I buy food."
About Me
