About My Library
It is a small library that serves 1500+ high schoolers grades 9-10 near Chicago. We have a classroom set of computers from which I teach many information literacy skills during their stay before they head to the next high school. We promote reading and try to set them on the path of library literacy
About Me
Working toward a second masters so not much free time at present which is good as we are empty nesters with our youngin's off to college. I love to read - naturally - so was tagged to serve on the exec committee for the Abraham Lincoln High School Book Award for the state of Illinois. With that in mind and with book talks for teachers, I average just over 200 YA books read per year. I then settle in with some adult ones in genres I like to round it out. I love sports so try to announce at as many events at school as I can and I sponsor the Gamers Club which meets once per week after school for 3 hours to play anything from video games to board games or somethings to create their own games. We like to travel when we can but as I am active in NEA as the region rep and the past two years have been elected to go to the national RA in Philly and DC where we saw many of the candidates - very cool - we don't travel as often as we'd like. When we aren't talking to the kids, we are busy with our furry critters at home - 5 cats and one dog they left behind. We all love it when they come home for visits.
