About My Library

These are books I've collected because I'm an artist, a writer, a researcher. Since 2007, I've focused on the history of my family in the Deep South, Southern history, and the history of African Americans in the South. Over the years, I've also studied or been intensely interested in Irish history, art (especially Early Christian and Medieval), architecture; the art, history and culture of pilgrimage; Pentecostalism and related religious beliefs; feminism, lesbian and women's culture, oracles, archetypes, New Age and neo-pagan ideas; fairies and fairy tales; art-making including quilting, embroidery, dolls and puppets. Also books about writing of all kinds, books of poetry, and essays. A few special fiction books, but not many. I've catalogued less than a third of them. I keep whittling away.

About Me

In my work life, I'm a visual resources curator-turned communications specialist for an academic art department. I'm also the assistant editor for Muscogiana, the journal of the Muscogee Genealogical Society (based in Columbus, Georgia). I have degrees in studio art, art history, and library and information studies. When not at work, I research and write about southern history, especially the history of my ancestors, and embroider, quilt, and paint.
