Tietoja minustaRoman Catholic priest. Due to two different academic formations, in Late Roman History and in Theology, for almost 25 years I have taught Ethics, Classical History and Literature, and Church History to future priests.
Tietoja kirjastostaniAs I advance into old age and my teaching duties diminish, I have started to shift all my academic books to my institution's library, with the intention of keeping on my shelves only those which relate directly to my priestly vocation (biblical studies, spirituality, hagiography, patristics, liturgy, etc.) and to a renewed interest in the Eastern Church (iconography, spirituality, liturgy), plus a few course manuals and a smattering of "recreational" reading (history, biography, literature).
The work is ongoing but, when finished, the present page will be an accurate catalog of what is now on my shelves. But in my other LT page - www.librarything.com/profile/Romanus - I will maintain a "snapshot" of my library as it was in April 2013, when I decided to create this separate and reduced "priestly collection," to which, most certainly (because I know myself), I will keep adding more books.

"All mankind is of one author, and is one volume; when one man dies, one chapter is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language; and every chapter must be so translated. Some pieces are translated by age, some by sickness, some by war, some by justice; but God's hand is in every translation; and His hand shall bind up all our scattered leaves again, for that library where every book shall lie open to one another..."
