About Me

I am R.S.Wells, and I have been writing for years. Before, I go any further I want you the reader to understand that I'm not the punctuation queen. That's why I have proofreaders and Editors that get paid very nicely for correcting my errors.

The book I have posted is for a fact what is considered historical/fiction /Westerns. I write blunt and to the point, no pansies in my books. Just hardcore facts of the wild west and how life was during the 1800's with outlaws, train robbers, crooks, thieves, murders, gunslinger's, bounty hunter's, brothels, flesh trade slaves, gambler's and women used and abused and women that fought back like men taking justice in their own hands. Along with Texas justice's and professionals linked with secret organizations and phantoms that ride the trail.

I started writing "Under the West Texas Sky" on Nov 1,2008 and finished the 106,000 plus word manuscript around the second week of Feb,2009. I've been told it was done in record time, that most books or novels take a writer at least a year to two years to finish in a complete form...Let's move on...I had a hard time at first finding a publisher to review my manuscript. Being an unknown and all, and being female...so,this is the story. I thought long and hard and decided to go by R.S. Why? Because, most publisher's don't' take female Western writers to heart...in short, there are over 500 male Western-Authors that are recognized, as true western writers.

Sad but true, the few women that do write westerns are considered Western/Romance Authors ( No, disrespect meant to either gender). I wanted to be in the category as Historical Western/ Author...I wanted to be judge on my talent and not my gender...now, few readers are still unaware that I am a woman...I guess the secret is out now!

I have another Western due out in a couple of months titled "The Return of Sparrow." that is a spin off of the first book...I have been working on my third book (title not yet given)and will be finished with the manuscript in a few weeks...the outline for book four is ready and waiting on my desk to be written, as well as the outline for book five.

The series seems endless, and just think it all started on Nov 1, 2008 with a dream that played like a film in my head and wouldn't stop. Until, I wrote it all down...It was crazy at the time but, now crazy good! And now by the end of this year 2009, I will have written at least four Westerns and all will be under contract... So,too those that think a woman can't write a good down to earth action filled true to form gun battling, blood and gut. Historically correct Western book that keeps you on the edge of your seat thriller...think again par and pick up a copy of my book...it's the first and I have a feeling that I will only improve with time...and women can write westerns too!
