Tietoja minustaI’m a technical support analyst employed by an Enormous Computer Company. I also moonlight at a local ethnic gift shop. At one time or another, I’ve been a bureaucrat, bassist, photographer, writer, bus driver, revenuer, usher, drummer, secretary, librarian’s assistant, disk jockey, book scout, movie projectionist, cemetery researcher, roadie, book dealer, yard-saler, jake-leg home DIYer . . . . I’ve a degree in English and a huge miscellany of information on a preposterous number of subjects with which I come out at random, to the astonishment and occasional edification of my acquaintance. I enjoy being mildly eccentric and curmudgeonly, I love traditional and Celtic music, and am a storyteller by disposition. I amuse myself by reading mysteries, some mainstream fiction, some fantasy, biography and history; haunt yard sales for bargains which I re-sell on eBay; work on my home and garden; do counted cross-stitch; collect Texana; do experimental cookery.

Tietoja kirjastostaniI grew up in a house that had a couple of thousand books in it. I also had the run of a good small-town library, where my mother served as director for fifty-one years (1965-2016). My wife grew up in a house with many more books than my house had; she claims 4,000. And now, thanks to LT, I know exactly how many are in our house (see above) and what they are.

Some collection disambiguation: The Russian collection is my wife's, as is most of the f&sf (with the exception of Pterry, who is mine). Texana and cookbooks are mine. Mysteries and suspense may be either of us, but more likely to be mine. History is mostly hers, although I read in it. Almost anything to do with crafts or needlework is hers. Comics are mine. Juveniles may be either of us, or our kids'.
