About My Library
By my 20s I had passed the 1000 volume mark, and in the late 1990s I had used up most of the space in my house. I had to build a dedicated Library near to my house, linked to it by a Conservatry. This now houses 20 000 to 30 000 items, books [from 1610], maps [from 1607], prints [from the 1650s], MS [from 1370], Photocopies Microfilm and Microfiche of local records, and various items of local ephemera. The subjects, of course, cover all those listed in the section "About Me"
About Me
Born too many years ago to wish to recall, I was educated at what, for most of the past two decades, has been rated as the best [for exam results] state boys' school in Britain. I then read Mathematics at University College London and later Philosophy at Sussex University, teaching at the latter for 2 years, followed by 2 years for the Open University. I also spent 20 year teaching in state schools, and 3 years in the trustee department of a bank.

Aged 48 I was forced to retire due to ill-health and spent the years gained in the study of local history. I can still be contacted on the Genuki website and often am by people interested in the history of the Holbeach area.

I cannot ever remember a time I could not read, and my interests were wide. History and Literature [especilly detective fiction] at first, adding Mathematics, Set Theory, Philosophy, Science, Theology, Topography, Cartography, Crime, Philately, Numismatics, Historical Records, and probably some other topics I can't recall. In short I suppose I am a bit of a polymath.
