About My Library
My building was built in 1936-37 as a Roosevelt Administration WPA project. Despite the fact that it was the middle of the Great Depression, I was built with ornate light fixtures, decorative carved wood, and stained glass windows in my doors. To save money my entire building was furnished with desks, tables, and chairs from a struggling local furniture maker - L. & J.G. Stickley. The tables you see in my picture are some of the only remaining original Stickley furniture in the building.

Over the years, as I outgrew my original room (pictured), more and more space was given over to me. The classroom at the far end of the picture was taken over for my 900 collection - geography, biography, and history. It's also used for group instruction.

Across the hall from this room is a very large room that used to be a study hall and a locker room. They were combined, refurbished, and given over to me to house my computer clusters (76 PCs in all) and my fiction collection.

I currently house approximately 11,000 volumes and receive about 45 magazine subscriptions.
