About My Library
The Brisbane Druidry Library:

I have set up this LibraryThing account with the express purpose of actually lending my physical books out to people who live close enough to collect them from me. In special cases I may consider posting books.

The core of this collection was selected from the recommended reading list of the the AODA (Ancient Order of Druids in America), one of the two Druid orders I am part of. I have deliberately sought out those books from the reading list that are not available in libraries in Brisbane. I hope to make available very soon a guide to finding Druid books in Brisbane's libraries. I am also on the lookout for recommendations of books relevant to Druidry in our local context.

Also available to borrow from this collection is complete works of Derrick Jensen, a brave and tireless defender of human and non-human life whose unique and stirring voice will not leave you unchanged.

Other books fall into categories such as gardening, permaculture, transition, peak oil and science fiction. I can recommend the books of Iaim M Banks to any science fiction fans who have not encountered them yet. Dazzling and original.

Since I have collected these books at some effort and expense, I have set a few conditions to protect the collection. My aim here is to strike a balance between getting books out into the hands of people who will read them and making sure that they are available for people to read into the future.

People who wish to borrow books will be asked to join as a member and pay a $5 membership fee and a refundable deposit. Identification (photo and address) is required, just like at any other library. The deposit you pay must cover the total set deposits for any books you wish to borrow. Check the tags for each books set deposit.

If you would like to join, or are interested in lending or donating a book into the Brisbane Grove library, or please email me or leave a comment.

Happy reading!

[Note on Druid materials - There is some material connected with OBOD (The Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids) on the AODA reading list. However, this order publishes an extensive correspondence course for its members rather than recommending a long list of books. This is why the Brisbane Grove library is dominated by books from the AODA reading list. Nevertheless, the two orders are quite similar in their teachings and philosophy.]
About Me
Hello,

I am Anifail, a Druid living in Brisbane. I'm always keen to hear from new people who are interested in environment and spirituality.

I am a keen organic gardener, always learning, and I love being outside! I also love to play music and want to sing more.

I am a member of two Druid orders, AODA and OBOD, in which I am a candidate and bard respectively (this means I am pretty much a beginner.) The challenge here in Australia, of course, is to find a Druid path that is relevant to the local conditions and culture. A challenge indeed.

Please say hello and share your thoughts in the comments or by email. Thanks for stopping by.

Under the Tallowwood,
