Advertisement text (18 February 1763): "Whereas the late HENRY APTHORP, Esq; deceased, by his last Will and Testament, appointed Nathaniel Wheelwright, Esq; of Boston, and George Meserve of Portsmouth, in the Province aforesaid, Executors, to settle his Estate; This is to desire all Persons to whom said Estate is Indebted, to apply to said Meserve and receive their respective ballances. And those who are Indebted to said Estate, are likewise desired to make immediate Payment, otherwise they may expect to be put to Trouble. As there are several Books wanting belonging to the Library of the Deceased, and which were by him lent, those Persons that borrowed them, or in whose Hands they now are, are desired to return them immediately to said Meserve, as said Library is soon to be sent out of the Province. There are several Notes of Hand belonging to the above Estate, which in a few Days will be put into the Hands of a Lawyer, if not timely prevented. Portsmouth, Feb. 17. 1763. George Meserve" Advertisement text (15 April 1763): "TO BE SOLD, At VENDUE, On THURSDAY the 21st Inst. at the House lately improved by Henry Apthorp, Esq; deceased, ALL the personal Estate of the Deceas'd, consisting of Tables, Chairs, Beds, Glasses, a very fine new Clock, and a genteel Book-Case; together with most every other necessary Article for House Keeping. Likewise a fine LIBRARY of BOOKS, some History, and some Divinity; with several Sorts of Merchandise. --- Sale to begin at Three o'Clock in the Afternoon; and if not all sold that Day, to begin the next Day, at the same House; and those Persons that have any of the Books belonging to said Library, are again desired to return them seasonably for the Sale. And all Persons who have Accounts open with the Estate, are desired to settle them immediately, with George Merserve, one of the Executors to said Estate." |
