On the whole I enjoyed this book. The commentaries are quite thorough in that very nearly every move is commented although some of the comments are simply things like "this is sente". I think he does a good job of creating a narrative of the game and showing how the individual moves fit into the narrative.

The reason that I didn't rate it higher was that there are two games in the book. The first game I felt the commentary was a bit lackluster. I felt that the commentary sometimes relied on statements to the effect that "black is a little ahead here" or similar. While I don't think this is without any value I felt too much of the game was summarized in these vague statements.

On the other hand. I felt the second game was very awesome. I really enjoyed it and felt the commentary did an excellent job of showing the back and forth of the factors that the players were considering. I felt it quite inspiring to see how much thought can go into a game.

So basically I felt that the two kind of evened out to an average rating. On the whole I enjoyed the book but felt the second game was clearly better done than the first.… (lisätietoja)
