We are huge fans of The Incorrigible Children books by Maryrose Wood. Preorder a copy of The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place: Book IV: The Interrupted Tale before we close on December 7th, and get a signed/personalized bookplate for the new book! The book will be released on December 17th, and we'll have the bookplates that day! Maryrose Wood is the author of The Mysterious Howling and The Hidden Gallery, the first two books in this continuing series about the Incorrigible children and their governess. These books may be considered works of fiction, which is to say the true bits and the untrue bits are so thoroughly mixed together that no one should be able to tell the difference. This process of fabrication is fully permitted under the terms of the author's Poetic License, which is one of her most prized possessions. Maryrose's other qualifications for writing these tales include a scandalous stint as a professional thespian, many years as a private governess to two curious and occasionally rambunctious pupils, and whatever literary insights she may have gleaned from living in close proximity to a clever but disobedient dog. This series is HIGHLY recommended by John. Young Readers Society: Our 8-12 Book Club Welcome to the newly formed Secret Garden's first ever book club for readers 8-12! It's a regular EVERY-THIRD-WEDNESDAY thing, from now on, through the summer and into the school year. We will sometimes do some book-related crafts and we will always serve piping hot FREE pizza from our friends over at Ballard Pizza Company. Thank you, Ballard Pizza Company! (Parents, you really should go over and try the great pies at Ballard Pizza Company!)
Our intention is to choose books that will interest both boys and girls, especially in this age bracket. I suspect that as the Society grows, we’ll read a variety of books based on the particular interests of the different kids who show up on a regular basis.
This month's book is The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place by Maryrose Wood.
We would ask you to encourage your kids to come to society meetings even if they aren’t necessarily interested in this book. As long as they’re interested in reading, we’ll be happy to have them.
The goal of our this club's fearless leader (the amazing Becky M.) is to introduce titles that will pleasantly surprise society members, like all book clubs, titles may not be ones members would choose to read on their own. She’ll definitely be open to book suggestions from the kids, but she will try to have three options for them to choose from every month to keep things simple.
The Young Readers’ Society will be about giving kids a safe place to talk about books and reading and to express their opinions openly. Parents will be encouraged to browse the shop, or grab a bite to eat in Ballard, but as far as the Society goes – no grown-ups allowed!
Don’t hesitate to call Becky M. anytime with questions/comments. Or, you can write her directly by clicking the contect us text above left.

Maryrose Wood Maryrose Wood keskustelee teoksesta The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place: Book II: The Hidden Gallery.Former Broadway actor, comedian, playwright, and author of YA and middle grade novels has written the sequel to her popular series. It is sometimes said of naughty children that “they must have been raised by wolves.” The Incorrigible children actually were. But, thanks to the efforts of Miss Penelope Lumley, their governess, Alexander, Beowulf, and Cassiopeia have become much more like children than wolf pups. They are accustomed to wearing clothes, hardly ever howl at the moon anymore, and – for the most part – resist the urge to chase squirrels up trees. Despite Penelope's civilizing influence, the Incorrigibles still managed to cause havoc wherever they go. Their visit to London presents many challenges and as they explore the city, they discover more about their and Penelope’s mysterious pasts. (jasbro)… (lisätietoja)
