The Review
Okay, so I get the mixed reviews on this book. Beau is an ass of EPIC proportions and there were definitely times I wanted to tell Bonnie to run, not walk away from him. But he is much older and knows what he wants and his brothers and dad are hovering throughout the book and would never let Beau do anything to hurt Bonnie. So once I reconciled that in my head, I embraced his obsessive-ness. Bonnie does a good job of putting him in his place and eventually he does ease up a little and they compromise. Bonnie starts to trust that Beau wants a future with her and not just a fleeting relationship which allows her to embrace his desire to be with her all the time, instead of fighting against him and his desires.

Overall, it was a good book and I was hooked with the plot and characters. I am curious to read the other books in the series because the, although all the brothers seem like the possessive type, they all have different personalities and Beau's was definitely the strongest!

I'm going to give this 2 stars because I didn't hate it and I did finish it. It started off pretty good. I love me some large age gap romances. But it started going downhill as soon as we got into the hero's POV.
Problems in no specific order:
1. The hero spent way too much time cooing. This was in first person POV. No man in the world talks like that. "Hey baby girl" I cooed. Just no.
2. I don't hate baby girl as a nick name although I prefer just baby. But when there is a 22 year age gap it seems really squicky. Plus it's used way too often.
3. 7 brothers living together in one house in their 30s and 40s? Weird.
4. The hero didn't act 43. Very little was made of the age gap so why include it?
5. The hero went from zero to 100 in 2 seconds flat. Unrealistic especially at his age unless he is an incel loser.
6. So they were in the mountains somewhere. There is a logging operation there, okay. But it's on the same mountain as a ranch big enough to need 30 permanent ranch hands? And this ranch is on the mountain? And the ranch house is a five minute walk from where the seven dwarves, I mean brothers, live?

There's more but that's enough.

I guess I'm disappointed about how this story went off the rails because the set up of crushing on an older man all your life only to have him suddenly notice you is a trope I really enjoy.

I knew going in that this was going to be over the top when it came to Beau. That isn't what made me not enjoy this because trust me, I love a possessive (fictional) man. Instead, it was some of the ways he "spoke" that went from just being alpha to instead being cheesy.

There were parts of the story that doesn't fit or that needed further explanation.

My issue with this book is that this is a book that is over 300 pages and all it is is the hero and the heroine arguing about the same thing with absolutely no progress and then there is a two-page happy-ending epilogue and then the book ends. There is nothing wrong with a book that is just sex and an unhealthy relationship but if you're going to do that, it shouldn't be this long. This book got so repetitive. There were some sentences that were repeated almost word for word and as I said, the same arguments happened over and over again with very few attempts to resolve the underlying issues. There were also no scenes of the hero and heroine just getting to know each other. They were always fucking or fighting. This made it so that I knew nothing about the heroine except she lives on a ranch and is a complete doormat and knew nothing about the hero except he was a logger and an asshole. Again, if you want to write something that's more erotica than romance, that's fine, just make sure it's not too long and repetitive.… (lisätietoja)
