So at first I'll admit I was on the fence about this one. I had no idea what was going on. The narrator is big on only giving little pieces of important information at a time. So at first I was a bit confused about the characters and honestly even who the narrator was. However, the book eventually takes a huge turn when we get to the murder. I have to admit I didn't expect the murder to be the character it was. It was like this big twist that suddenly complicated matters, like a whole lot. Emory ends up being our characters charged with uncovering who the killer is so that they can save everyone on the island. I loved the high pressure dynamic that was involved. Emory is like the one character most of the village doesn't like so that made it even better honestly, because she's the only one unafraid to question everything.

I loved that with this one I honestly never knew the answer. We would get a piece of the puzzle and my brain would be like bam solved... only to discover that I needed another piece. I don't think I really got close to an answer at all until the last few pages when the reveal was basically coming out... and even then I wasn't completely right. Which I adored. I love a book that bests me. This one had so many fascinating elements built in with the dystopian style and all the big secrets. I mean having the entire island have no memory of what took place really added to the story. I loved that the book also was focused on the flaws in humanity and the impact it can have. This was my first time reading this author but I will for sure be checking out more books after this one. Hopefully I'll be able to solve those! I also think this would make a really cool movie honestly.

This book was definitely unique and different than anything I've read. I give it four stars because it's sort of made my mind whirl, and not necessarily in a good way. However, I did enjoy the storyline and the murder mystery. I kept going back and forth on the murderer. SPOLIER: And in the end, it was a suicide. In the simplest form. But everyone had a hand in everything. And Abi, the voice in everyone's head was really the puppet master behind everything. Be careful what you create Niema. It had a futuristic feel with creating a whole species. I loved finding out more and more about them dying at 60, falling asleep immediately at a certain time, body control. Definitely interesting and sci-fi but without being overly sci-fi that I didn't like it. It did feel slow at times and I read some parts way faster than others, but overall, I enjoyed the ride and expect I'll remember this book for awhile!… (lisätietoja)
