Yleistieto

Lyhyt elämäkerta
A former actor, she spent nearly ten years in the entertainment industry appearing in commercials, print ads and television shows. It was her love of storytelling that pushed her to the other side of the camera and sent her to film school at Chapman University. Although she entered as a Cinematography major, Jennifer graduated with a degree in Screenwriting.
After several years of writing and editing for producers and other screenwriters her curiosity led her into writing novels. As a huge fan of Young Adult and New Adult literature this is where her pen tends to lead her. However, she does have plans to release a few middle grade fiction and adult novels in the future.

While many of these were rather humorous, some really hit close to home. I enjoyed reading them, not from an actress point of view but as a woman in general. The monologues are so raw and heartfelt that I found myself relating to more than just a few of them. I've never read anything quite like this, so it was a new perspective for me that I enjoyed.

How far would you go to get what you want?

Paige, about to graduate high school and move away from the mother that she feels never loved her, is about to answer that question when she is faced a terrible decision, one that will tip her over the edge.

Paige seems like a regular girl, except for the fact that she lives in a morgue. She has a best friend, Shelby - The mayor's daughter. She has a boyfriend, Brock who is a cop and the mayor's son. And she has a dream to escape her life. She wants to go to Harvard. Lots of people know about her dream but no one pays enough attention to her to even remember what university she wants to go to.

I finished this book in one sitting. I wanted to know how and why Paige was making the decisions she was. Frankly, I wanted to know what was going to happen next.

While this book is aimed at the young adult crowd, it is written in third person limited. I would have liked it more if it had been in first person as the story really lent itself to an unreliable narrator. That said, I had a pretty clear understanding of what was going on in Paige's head and why she felt compelled to continue the way she had.

I was still left with some questions as I was reading and the ending was a little too quick in my mind, but overall, the book was a good quick read and would probably be enjoyed by my students.
