the Chinookan folk are a people native to Southwest Washington. This is an interesting little book on the Chinook culture. It also contains a translation of the entire Chinook language, which is composed of a mixture of Native American and European words. The language is frequently referred to as jargon. I used to assign my middle school students a bit of writing using only this dictionary as a guide. They always struggled with the missing common articles and words.
