It may seem odd to say, but this was a laugh out loud account of a woman who finds her self suddenly and very unexpectedly a widow while in the process of adopting a child. I appreciated the dark humor and irreverent perspective because that's how I approach my own writing. Streeter allows herself to be vulnerable when sharing how she coped while going through such a difficult, life-altering experience. The result is a memoir both humorous and poignant, while always remaining authentic.
