This entry in the series is as interesting for what it highlights as missing or open to interpretation, as for the parts of Tecumseh's speech it quotes. Since it was given at a time and place when/where recording and preservation were a bit precarious, the book emphasizes the various tools and strategies young researchers and historians need to use in order to gain a solid understanding, not only of the speaker's intents, but of what resulted following his speech. Everyone has heard of the Gettysburg Address, but how many have read it? For that matter, how many have read about that period in American history, or have researched its accuracy? A good resource for schools and libraries who are interested in offering in depth reference resources to students.… (lisätietoja)

Numerous additional resources are included in the back of the book. By the time readers have finished with it, they will not only understand the gist of the speech, but what the times were like for Black Americans and more importantly, should be able to reflect upon what, if any changes in race relations have occurred since the debate.… (lisätietoja)
