I won this book through a Goodreads giveaway. Wow. Selvaratnam tells her story of abuse, painting the picture of how it happened and detailed her brave escape. If you’ve ever thought “I don’t understand why she doesn’t leave...” then you need to read this book.
This book should be required reading for anyone who doesn’t understand why women don’t leave abusive relationship. I ripped through this book in a day, it was well written and researched.

This quiet scream of a memoir is told by one of the women who was brutalized by NY State attorney general Eric Schneiderman, a sadistic thug who slapped and choked women for his sexual pleasure. The author, an accomplished media producer, shares how she was targeted and groomed by Schneiderman, who sold himself as a feminist in public but abused her in private until she finally was able to tell friends and then a lawyer and fianlly, Jane Mayer, investigative reporter at the New Yorker, with the intention of preventing him from terrorizing other women.
