I have a phobia of snakes so much so that I can't watch them on the movie screen. So this really wasn't the book for me. I did finish it, the writing is good. I just couldn't handle the snake like Vespers. That has of course affected my rating of the book.

Honestly I don't like giving threes or below, but as I use Goodreads to suggest new books for me to read I have to rate as honestly as possible or they will keep suggesting books I won't care so much for. If you don't have a problem with snakes you might really like this book.… (lisätietoja)

I will admit, I don't typically go for these books, which I am finding myself saying that more than I thought I would. At first, I was unsure of the book, but, as always, I am willing to try. I definitely am glad I did. This is a story of love, and what lengths the characters are willing to go in the name of that love. Sacrifice is something we all know, well at least we say we know. This will have you questioning what you would do to save the one you love. Then, we have revenge. Oh sweet revenge. We all like revenge now and then... This is just the beginning of sweet revenge on those who have wronged the wrong person. I am not going to go through the characters and plot. You can read that in the book blurb. I will say this is a book worth taking a chance on. I was not disappointed. You won't be either.… (lisätietoja)

In Gilded Destiny, we learned that there are severe consequences for Vespers to become involved with humans. We also learned that is most likely inevitable. Now we learn that is it most definitely inevitable for Vespers and humans to come together. Vespers are expected to be a certain way, follow certain rules. With Vespers being immortal, it is more likely that they long for the relationships they would have had as humans.
I was a little lost, at first. Once I got into the book, I found myself hoping for certain things, wishing for that ending that we all want. I was not let down with the interactions between the characters. I adored Three’s character. She suffered as a human and continued to suffer as a Vesper. She felt trapped by her past; ashamed of who she was and who she is. Jack is enthralled with her. He tries to teach her that it is okay to feel, no matter what rules say otherwise. They try to find that balance.
I liked how things unfolded. I like that we didn’t get the sappy ever-after. However, we do get an “ending” that we will all be satisfied with. I left smiling and hoping for more at some point down the line.… (lisätietoja)
