Odd mix of a very specific history of the Holocaust in Poland with a fictional account of Polish Christian and Jewish friends at a resort just before the war. The author is a Polish Christian deeply concerned with the Polish response to the Holocaust.
One of the best novels about the Holocaust. The author is a non-Jewish Polish writer who investigates the relationship between Poles now and the memory of the Holocaust. The conversations between the protagonist and his wife are a highlight.
