This book is about an elephant who cannot sleep without his favorite pillow. A boy comes along and tries to find all the elephant's wishes to encourage the elephant to sleep again.
This book is a folktale that was often told to Chinese children as they fell asleep. The Elephant's Pillow explores how the imperial elephant can finally fall asleep after many years and the friendship he builds with a young boy who has come to help. This story shows the power of listening to others needs and helping each other out.
A boy named Sing Lo comes from a wealthy Chinese family and wants to meet the imperial elephant. This elephant used to carry the Emperor around and he has been restless since his death. The elephant also won't carry anyone. Sing Lo goes to see the elephant and gives him some buns, makes him a drink, and has a pillow made for him so the elephant will finally sleep.
