The 56th Man was a free book from Kindle. It was the story of a Iraqi "police"man who worked when Saddam Hussein was in power. He eventually was brought to the U.S. to work in intelligence. He was housed by the Federal Marshalls in a home where the entire family had been murdered. It was a difficult book to follow all the flashbacks and to even try to find out the connection to the title...I can't even remember that now. Difficult to put the pieces together.
Very topical mystery. A foreigner is helping the US government identify terrorist in exchange for a new life here but becomes involved in solving the murder of the family that lived in the house before him. The character's attitude towards Americans and their culture seems to accurately portray the not always positive response to our culture by foreigners who are forced to become a part of it. This was a great weekend read.
