Paul Rezendes

Although Paul lives on the same piece of conservation land that I do, I have yet to meet him. As homework for this occurrence, I read this book.

I was gifted this book by a student of a student of his for my tenth birthday. It had just been reprinted, and I was lucky enough to get a signed copy.

Since then, it's been sitting on my shelf. I've been intending to read it during the intervening decade and a half, but just got around to it.

it's amazing! It's so much more than a book on tracking. Paul shares a number of personal stories about experiences or observations with different animals, and also describes what I found to be peculiar and intriguing [rather than textbook] attributes about each animal.

Even though the body of the book is excellent, I was most caught by the introduction, which is about how the "art of seeing" has informed Paul's life on the whole. He has a book about just this subject ["The Wild Within"], which I think will be the next stop on my list.… (lisätietoja)
