Elijah’s Mantle: Empowering the Next Generation of African American Christian Leaders edited by Diane Proctor Reeder is a series of essays about leadership within the African American Christian Community and how to pass on leadership from one generation to another. This book focuses on the practical aspects of the problems of each group of people, what the older generation faces in giving up leadership and the challenges of taking on leadership from a group of people. While the subtitle does specify African American Leaders, this book is helpful for any group that is experience a change in leadership along generational lines. An interesting read. I particularly enjoyed the chapter on "Effective Church Leadership" which details straight from scripture what is needed to be a good and Godly leader in the Body of Christ. A useful resource for Christian leaders, although I fear reliance on "wisdom" in the form of formal plans and procedures that can sometimes take precedence over the Spirit's leading, which is the caution I would lend when reading this book, as it provides a good starting point for conducting leadership transitions and multi-generational leadership.… (lisätietoja)

A great resource and inspiration for leaders and those looking into leadership. Given the basis and what its for, its obviously a great resource for African American churches, but Caucasian or non-African American churches and their leaders/leadership could benefit from reading this as well.
